SRI International. Social and Economic Implications of Information Technologies: A Bibliographic Database Pilot Project.

This project identified about 5,000 data sets, research paper, books and web sites about the social and economic implications of ICTs. They are the result of automated bibliographic searches and consultations with research experts. The resources have been sorted into a series of searchable listings called Road Maps. Roughly one third of the citations have abstracts.

The project addresses:

• the home (includes a subset of citations that have been specially annotated),
• education,
• community,
• government,
• science,
• employment,
• work,
• commerce (including electronic commerce),
• productivity,
• institutional structure,
• globalization, and
• selected policy issues.

The initial compilation of material was completed November 1998 and supplemented from November 1998 through July 1999. New citations will continue to be added depending on "public response and availability of funds."
