National School Boards Foundation.
The National School Boards Foundation encourages and prepares local school board members to become catalysts for educational change and agents for systemic reform in the public. Its projects are designed to help school boards meet contemporary challenges while strengthening local representative governance of the public schools.
The foundation has three long-term goals:
- Design and implement innovative programs that give school boards the tools to change and improve their school districts.
- Forge new partnerships with other organizations in order to involve school boards in discussing and implementing changes that will improve student achievement.
- Help school boards learn from the successes and failures of other school boards across the country.
Its short-term objectives are to address those goals within three key areas:
- Conducting action-oriented research focused on improving school board effectiveness.
- Helping school boards face the challenges of implementing technology in their schools' classrooms.
- Addressing the critical issues of urban school governance and leadership.
